Made in St. Quinten-la-Poterie, Anduze (Provence) and the Pays Basque and Occitanie for centuries, with the design dating back to Greek and Mediterranean influences in the south of France, they are used to keep liquids cool, slightly buried in the earth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis specific piece is a gargoulette and was used by the shepherds to carry water tied to their donkeys as they crossed the countryside in the Pays Basque and the Occitanie.
