For all equestrians and horse lovers, this is a delightful addition to any room in your home, and a thoughtful gift for just that right person you have in mind. This is a lovely reproduction print of Silny from the Librairie Agricole de la Maison Rustique, Plate No. XVI. Really, could there be a cuter muzzle?!
The French at the bottom translates to "Silny (15 years, 1m and 65 cm tall). Stallion of the bitugue breed."
The Bitugue horse breed was central to the steppe region of Voronezh Oblast, Russia in the late 1700's and into the late 1800's. They were known as hard workers with a pleasant temperament, and the Russian reference to the breed is the Voronezh horse, formerly known as the Вitugue in French.
Varying accounts indicate that this breed no longer exists after crossbreeding and is said to be involved in the development of Turkish Malakan breed.
