The work of V. Adam is logged on the back, and the horses are titled "Cheval de Chasse and Lument Normande." Victor Vincent Adam was a French painter born in Paris in 1801, died in 1866 in Viroflay, Seine-et-Oise. An interesting bit of history is also recorded on the back by the previous owner, signed by F. Faval "achete le 5 Octobre 1922."

Many of Victor Adam's works are in collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/638426, and a small lithograph of his of Arabian horses recently sold at auction in Dubai for $4000.00.

There is a barely visible water mark in the center between the two paintings and a bit of foxing due to time.

Found at a Toulouse flea (puce) market diving into an overflowing chest of unbelievable works of art from all periods - and locations including country chateaux and abandoned Catholic churches.
